This case presents the development of an AI-driven chat platform for The World Bank, designed to securely integrate AI into internal workflows and reduce reliance on external tools. Over a three-year period, the product evolved from a basic MVP into a multi-layered AI workspace, enabling document interaction, knowledge retrieval, and access to reusable internal AI agents within a unified environment.

AI-powered enterprise search platform built for The World Bank, providing unified access to the organization’s entire internal ecosystem. The system integrates AI-driven capabilities including automatic summarization of results, structured overviews, and contextual clustering of information. Similar to Google AI Search experiences, it generates concise, structured summaries, helping users quickly find relevant information across the entire database collected by The World Bank over 80 years. It also enables a smooth transition from AI search into AI chat for deeper analysis and exploration.

The portal supports employees from discovering AI solutions to learning and experimenting with AI APIs for building new Bank products. It keeps all AI knowledge, capabilities, and updates accessible in one place.

AI Factory is a centralized AI Model Garden playground within the World Bank’s AI Ecosystem that helps teams explore, evaluate, and integrate AI models.
Designed for both technical and non-technical users, it enables product owners to test AI use cases and understand model capabilities, while providing engineers with API-ready AI integrations. By combining experimentation and direct AI API access in one place, it reduces friction in early-stage AI product development and helps teams move faster with clear visibility into model performance and cost.
